It was presented there in November 2014. The final version was finished in February 2015. Chris Arrells track could be seen as conveying the transition to a higher form of consciousness through an increase in frequency, resolution, fineness. The video is intended to visually support this property of the sound. 3- PRESENTATION AT OTHER FESTIVALS premiere of preliminary version at Alte Schmiede Wien (Vienna/Austria, 28.11.2014) exhibition "Impuls und Wille" at Sigmund (Vienna/Austria, 27.2.2015) Diagonale Filmfestival (Graz/Austria, 19.3. and 21.3.2015) Echofluxx Filmfestival (Prague/Czech Republic, 9.5.2015) cinema of the MUMOK Vienna (museum for modern art), "working on abstraction", screening and discussion about abstraction (Vienna/Austria, 13.5.2015) 15th International Animation Festival MIAF (Melbourne/Australia, 19.06. - 26.07.2015) Lausanne Underground Film & Music Festival (LUFF) (Lausanne/Switzerland, 14. - 18.10.2015) 11th annual European Short Film Festival at M.I.T. In their catalog they write about it: When watching Dextro's video works, the viewer is immersed in a parallel mathematical universe populated by puzzling, two-dimensional life forms that are in a constant state of movement and flux. Its filigree, abstract compositions are based on algorithms Ð the visible traces they leave behind are seen on the display monitor. In Video _65 Dextro abandons the use of color entirely. White gossamer lines dance in front of a medium gray background, in synch with the spherical electronic sounds of contemporary American composer Chris Arrell. Sometimes during the digital ballet, these fine lines coalesce into coiling, luminous tubes. White graphic lines become discreetly contrasted and superimposed with black graphic lines. Dextro's video works are always based on extremely complex, non-linear scripts. But as a rule, he does not rely on random sequence generators or fractal chaos formulae. His animations are meticulously defined down to the exact detail, the individual pixel. A renewed computational run-through would deliver the exact same result. Dextro's artistic material is the digital code with which he experiments at great length, until the visual result corresponds to his aesthetic expectations. His works are marked by a signature style - the composition of his images is always dynamic, asymmetrical and finely nuanced. Video _65 is a further building block in an impressive, comprehensive and uncompromising body of work, through which Dextro once again proves his sovereignty and mastery. (original German text by Norbert Pfaffenbichler, translated by Eve Heller) In March 2015, Video_65 was shown at the Diagonale film festival in Graz, Austria. The catalog text reads: A white line curves through the diagonals of the image, leaving behind traces on the black background. Swirling sound soon sets it vibrating, giving rise to flickering, expanding patterns, which move together in a visual tension. In radical abstractness, Dextro generates a computer-generated visualization of a music piece from non-linear algorithms, and makes the chain of associations vibrate. Chris Arrell writes about Video_65: "... a beautifully crafted, nuanced, and incredibly sensitive response to the music. I love it!" "It's a great complement to the sensitivity to the narrative skeleton that was already clear in the previous version that I watched online. I love how the video unfolds gradually over time in a manner very similar to how the music unfolds. Many thanks for becoming so familiar with the music and designing the video to complement it on several layers. It's really fantastic." 15- CONCERNING THE COPYRIGHT, SCREENING THE SHORTEST EXTRACTS FROM THE FILM IN TV IS POSSIBLE: Yes
